Southern Illinois Pioneer Coalition
Driven by the desire to make nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and supportive living facilities a better place to live, the Southern Illinois Pioneer Coalition (SIPC) provides training on how to allow residents to choose how and when their care is provided. This is called person-centered care.
Research has shown that facilities that emphasize person-centered care experience a higher rate of resident and staff satisfaction. Facility occupancy rates are higher and staff turnover is lower.
It is to have every resident's individuality and personal choice be valued and respected by all caregivers.
It is to promote, support, and assist a change in the culture of care in every nursing home, assisted living facility, supportive living facility, and professional and family assisted care in the home.
Although attendance at our workshops is without charge, Continuing Education credit is available for facility administrators, social workers, and nurses for a fee.
