All Day Club Services Facilities provide weekday care to older people who need supervision. Some facilities need assistance with recreation and activities. Call an agency near you that has All Day Club Services.
Blood Pressure screening Medical professionals, like physician assistants and nurses, are needed at senior centers, health fairs, and other places. Call a senior center focal point near you.
Board and Advisory Council Members provide advice on organizational governance. All non-profit agencies need board and advisory council members. Call an agency near you.
Meal site assistance Meals for senior adults that are served hot at noon-time, and offers an opportunity to socialize. Volunteers accept reservations and perform other dining room tasks. Call an agency near you or one of these senior centers.
Deliver meals to homebound seniors Senior citizen meal sites provide hot, noon-time lunches to the elderly who are homebound. Meals are usually delivered by volunteers who also provide a friendly visit and safety check. Call an agency near you.
Drivers education trainer through AARP 55-Alive Program Senior drivers review courses are offered at senior centers and other locations. Trained volunteers are often needed to conduct these classes. Call the state AARP 55-Alive hotline at 1.888.227.7669.
Driver to escort seniors Drive seniors to medical appointments. Drivers may need to drive their own vehicle. Call a senior center focal point near you.
Friendly Visitor The homebound and seniors who live in rural areas really appreciate when people come to visit. Call a senior center focal point near you.
Money Management & Representative Payee Manages finances, pays bills, and handles routine finances for older people who have trouble managing these tasks. A Representative Payee is appointed by the Social Security Administration to help older adults manage their finances. Nursing Home and Assisted Living facility visitor Volunteers who regularly visit a nursing home to provide companionship and check on the residents well-being. Call the Ombudsman program or the Illinois Senior HelpLine at 1.800.252.8966.
RSVP Volunteering in senior centers, schools, nursing homes, and other community resources. For the southern 7 counties, call the Shawnee Development Council at 618.634.2201. For Jackson and Perry counties, call the Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council at 618.684.3341 or 542.4656.
Senior Health Insurance Program counselor Trained counselors answer questions about health insurance benefits and coverage including Medicare, Medicaid, supplemental health insurance, and Long Term Care Insurance. Telephone Reassurance Volunteers call isolated older people to ensure they are safe while providing personal reassurance that someone cares. Call an agency near you.
